Earth, ravaged by natural disasters caused by the evil Emperor Min, who ruled the planet Mongo, was in danger of colliding with the Moon within 10 days.
Amid this crisis, scientist Hans Zarkov attempts to travel to Mongo in his own rocket to conduct independent peace negotiations. However, he is joined by two others who happened to be there after their plane made an emergency landing: Flash Gordon, an American football star, and Dale Arden, a woman traveling alone.
